Our Journey Through the Years
The Beginning
Founded by master technician Mike Johnson with a simple vision: provide honest, reliable auto repair service to the Rohnert Park community. Starting with just three bays and two employees, we opened our doors on Commerce Boulevard with a commitment to treat every customer like family.
First Major Expansion
Growing demand led to our first expansion. We doubled our service capacity, added state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, and brought on additional ASE certified technicians. This growth allowed us to serve more families while maintaining our personal touch.
ATRA Membership & BBB Accreditation
Achieved membership in the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association and earned Better Business Bureau accreditation with an A+ rating. These milestones reflected our commitment to industry standards and ethical business practices.
Next Generation Joins
Mike's son, David Johnson, joined the business after completing his automotive engineering degree and ASE certifications. This marked the beginning of our evolution as a true family business, combining traditional values with modern automotive expertise.
Technology & Training Investment
Major investment in cutting-edge diagnostic technology and hybrid/electric vehicle training. We became one of the first shops in Rohnert Park certified to service hybrid vehicles, preparing for the automotive industry's evolution.
Chamber Business Excellence Award

With over 35 years in the automotive industry, Mike founded Rohnert Park Transmission with a vision of creating an honest, reliable repair shop. ASE Certified and ATRA member, Mike still works hands-on with complex transmission rebuilds while mentoring the next generation of technicians.
David Johnson
General Manager & Lead Technician
Growing up in the shop, David combines traditional automotive knowledge with modern technology expertise. With degrees in Automotive Engineering and Business Management, plus ASE certifications, David leads our technical team while ensuring exceptional customer service standards.
